If i’ve counted correctly, it’s 28 places in 35 years. That includes three places where i’ve returned to the same place on separate occasions. So i guess its 25 different locations. I also haven’t counted six years at boarding school, when i was away for over half of each year, but my official address was still my parents’ house. ---

Current count 19 addresses in 12 cities (last 2 addresses have accounted for 17 years) Very close to making that 20 addresses in 13 cities (keeping fingers crossed on job offer) If it matters - I’ll turning 52 this week ---

8 in 48 years. The first 6 months in a house in LA, until a freeway (the 605) was built through it. We moved a few miles to Orange County, and lived there for more than 20 years (mom still there). Two apartments in Lewisburg PA. One had been flooded out and the center was sinking, so errant objects had a way of ending up in one place. Weird. One apartment and two houses in Pocatello Idaho. In one house, the rest of the houses were physically moved to the other side of the town, and we were left with a big parking lot to ISU’s library in our backyard. Townhouse now, for nearly 13 years. The last six were all rentals. Today, I bought myself a book on how to buy a home. God, I feel like such a babe in the woods. ARM, CMA, MLS, WTF?? ---

Twelve. Thirteen, if you count college. My parents moved to their current house when I was five, so I lived there for 15 years, and I’ve lived in my current house for 25 years. ---

I’m 24 and I’ve had 20 homes. This includes 4 different homes before I was 4. It’s very possible that there were more than 4 but I was too young to remember. Also included - one military base, 9 foster homes (in 6 years) and a variety of apartments which I lived in with my family. ---

11 places growing up with my folks. 6 places as an undergrad. 9 places working summers as a roughneck. 10 places as a young professional. 4 places in Alaska. 2 since I’ve been married. **42** … an average of roughly one per year of my life. Boy, I’m a transient SOB. ---

19 or twenty in slightly less than 40 years. It would be a lot more but dad retired from the Air Force when I was 6. ---

Birth to age 17: 1 address College years: 1 address (my campus mailing address remained the same for four years, so the various dorm rooms don’t count seperately). Since 1995: 6 (five between 1995 and 1999) Only 8 total. I hadn’t counted it up before - I would have thought it was more for some reason, but that’s likely because so much of the moving was done in the 1990’s. ---

25 in 53 years. 20 of them after age 18. 8 states + 1 foreign country. Based on averages, I took out a 30-year mortgage on my present home, assuming there was no way I’d be there past 5 years. I’ve been in it for 13. Oh well. ---

House I grew up in - 18 years Summer job - 3 months College Dorm - 1 year Summer job - 3 months Different college dorm - 1 year Summer job - 3 months Rental house in college town - 1 year Summer job - 3 months Same rental house as above, so I guess it doesn’t count Summer job - 3 months Portland ME - 3 months Cambridge MA - 9 months Got a touring gig, so my address was the company - 2 years Girlfriend’s apartment - 3 months Apartment with girlfriend - 1 year Different apartment with gf - 9 months House-sitting with gf - 3 months and counting. So I guess that’s 16 places. I’m 27, so I’m averaging 1.666 addresses per year since I moved out of my parent’s house 9 years ago. Wow. I had no idea. ---

Counting places where I’ve had mail addressed to me (or my parents for the early years): 45 in 58 years London (2 addresses), Scotland (4), London again (2), Essex (3), Lancashire (2), Wales (3), Sussex (4), London yet again (2), Iraq (3), Netherlands (2), Iran (2), Kuwait (2), Eire (1), Libya (1), Netherlands again (2), Italy (2), Swindon (1), Staines (2), Spain (2), Germany (1), Canada (1), Frimley (1) More hotels than I care to remember, but less than three months in each one makes me a transient. The last 7 addresses took me 20 years, so at one point I was 38 for 38 (then I got married). ---

Not all that manyin 45 years: 2 before I left for college in Harvey, IL(18 years) 2 at college in Champaign, IL(5 years) 3 in Washington, DC (12 years) 4 in Madison, WI (10 years) 11 total I expect to be moving to a purchased home within a year or so, and I may be pretty much done at that point. ---

The apartment I moved to recently counts as my 15th address, 16th if you count rehab. 6 towns/villages/cities, all in the same country (and it ain’t that big) and I’m 24. …moving sucks. ---
