Well, it helps if you start several posts discussing your masturbatory habits, penchant for oral sex, and utter devotion to your career as a telemarketer. This will get you noticed right quickly. Barring that you can always just hang around from time to time, post eloquently when you feel like it and mindlessly when you don’t and eventually…some day…with diligence and hard work…someone will namedrop **FlippyFly** in a thread you aren’t subscribed to (or you’ll get pitted…one or the other). Then you’ll know you’ve made it. Well, that and the yak hair sweater in the mail, courtesy of the Reader Overlords. ---

For what it’s worth, I’ve always been treated much better than I’ve deserved here, from my very first post. I never felt ignored, and many more established members were much more friendly and encouraging toward a newcomer than could have been reasonably expected (hello, **Dung Beetle**!) Some of the most accomplished posters have been the most tolerant – **Eve** , **Swampbear** , **lieu** , **Shirley Ujest** , and others have been exceptionally generous in making me feel welcome. I’d rather have that than be taken seriously anyway. ---

Well, I have over 700 posts and I don’t really expect anyone to know me, but one of my favorite posters recently, Stranger on a Train, has made quite a good impression in only 200 posts. As others have stated, it’s all relative. ---

I’ll take anyone “seriously” that can tell me how you’ll know when a post that needs to be proximal to the one above it to be meaningful is in fact about to appear all by it’s lonesome at the top of the next page. Yeah, I like having **King of Soup** around. You too, **FlippyFly**. ---
