In Ohio we’ve been mostly back to normal since Feb. We still wear masks at stores.
Here in Big Wonderful Wyoming the only real restrictions have been at restaurants. Gyms have carried on as if nothing was amiss. A few businesses insist on masks. The Governor gave lip service to a mask mandate but that didn’t mean much and is now only history. The local DA said publicly that she wouldn’t prosecute any mask violations because of budgetary constraints.
Free Dumb!
My only feeling of restriction here in Quebec is the curfew. It bugs me for the following reasons:
I believe that it’s to compensate for the province being too lazy to crack down on illegal social gatherings that typically occur at night;
It somewhat restricts the time that I have to go for a run or bike ride (both by myself); and
If I had a dog it would be a non-issue, so someone’s dog’s health may be more important than mine (and yes I know that that’s ridiculous but the whole thing bugs me).
Despite that, I obey the curfew and I’m doing my utmost to do the right thing as my wife is immunocompromised and I believe that we all have responsibilities to society.
And beyond all that I’m absurdly fortunate through all this; I have a well-paying job with a company that takes this very, very seriously so I have to WFH (and listen to a shitload of metal and grunge online while I’m doing it).
We’re back in full lockdown with stay at home orders in place.
We were well prepared, and hubs was back at work, so I’m glad that’s stopped happening. It sucks, but I do get my jab tomorrow, so that’s good.
When we had a curfew, “walking for exercise” was among the exceptions. In fact, it turned out that every reason i had been leaving the house at that time (exercise, buying food, buying medications, getting medical care) was an exception. So i was surprised that the curfew had no impact at all in my life.
A small group of people not only want the fence on the top of the cliff removed, they want the “freedom” to push people off the top of the cliff.
I’ve been grocery shopping at least once a week for the entire time. The only thing that’s really affected my routine was having the public library closed for a few months, followed by a month or two of contactless pickup.
