How much do Christmas trees cost in your area?

Our main tree, a 10 foot redwood from a sustainable cut-your-own, was $48. The kids tree, a 5 foot noble fir, from a tree stand was $32.

ETA: Northern CA.

I checked a tree stand in Brooklyn near my place and it is $10 a foot. So $80 instead of $200.

We paid $40 for a 7’ noble fir. That same tree back in Anchorage was about $110.

A six footer at our local Dutch version of a Home depot in a suburb: 20 euro’s, about 25 USD.

A seven foot Fraser Fir runs about $45.00.

Well, we just went out to buy a tree last Saturday. The local Kroger (supermarket) had been selling them for $20.00, but were sold out. That was OK with me, as they’d been selling them since before Thanksgiving (!!) so there was no telling how fresh they were. Then we went to a fruit and vegetable stand that I knew had live trees, but the rinky-dink ones started at $40.00, the nice ones were as much as $80.00. We finally ended up at Home Depot, where we got a pretty nice 7’ spruce for $25.00.

Frankly, I wouldn’t pay $80.00 for a tree we’re going to throw out in three weeks. I’d add another $40.00 to it and buy a good fake we could use for years. I don’t mind paying $25.00 for the real deal, though, since I love the way it makes the apartment smell!

Our Douglas Fir from Home Depot cost $25 for a 7 footer. Tucson, AZ

My second year in a row without a tree! My second year in a row not being home at Christmas :).

Here in the Mexico City area, the grocery store had cheap-looking pine trees (unknown varietal, definitely pine, though) for MX$500, about $42. For a crappy pine, that seems expensive, but then again, my neighborhood is expensive.

At Sam’s Club near work (much different neighborhood), they had some gorgeous blue spruce for MX$400, about $34. I’ve never, ever, ever seen blue spruce that cheap anywhere in Michigan.

Ohioan here. There’s a Christmas tree farm about 5 miles from us. You have to cut it yourself. Price is about $40 for a nice tree. We do it every year.

Me too. We’ve had the same tree for about 25 years. Ms Hook picked it up right after Christmas way back then for roughly a quarter of the pre Christmas price.

The grocery store’s getting desperate to clear inventory. Six-foot trees are now ten bucks.
