My New Jersey office splis 50/50 with the agent, who then has to pay FICA, taxes, insurance, etc. It can three months or longer to close a sale, and it takes a helluva lot of work. Our broker works about 60 hours a week, and makes around $100,000 gross a year. And she works her ass off. ---

Right now buyers/sellers are at a stalemate, each one trying to hold out longer than the other. The market in OC could not sustain it’s growth forever, it was insane! We have a rental property that we bought 3 years ago for $370,000, and is now worth over $650,00. ---

I know of at least one other Vancouver Island answering service survivor as well who posts on the Dope (she and I used to work at a different A/S in Victoria and we came here independently of each other). Not to mention I wasn’t answering my own question, I was making a statement/general comment, which I see plenty of people doing in General Questions. We bought up all the answering services in Victoria and then got bought by a larger company. Before the buy out we were AnswerPlus. Good to know there’s some answering service folks on the board!
