We have discussed gas prices for automobile use, general bent crude and gasoline prices, and other transportation increases in several threads for the post Iran-Strikes World. Especially for USA posters, we have been somewhat insulated, but it’s been quite noticeable.

But we haven’t talked much about airflight pricing in the same threads, despite multiple news articles about it in Europe and the USA. A representative sample:

> **[Lufthansa cuts 20,000 summer flights as fuel prices surge](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cre1r4n5j5wo)**
>
> The airline is the latest to cut flights as the US-Israel war with Iran sends jet fuel prices soaring.

And the possible long term increases here:

> **[Airlines looking for fare increases to stick, even when jet fuel costs fall |...](https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/26/business/airlines-fuel-prices-fare-hikes)**
>
> The soaring cost of jet fuel due to the war in Iran will lead to significantly higher airfares. But don’t expect ticket prices to drop once fuel prices start to decline.

[in the USA, the probable closing of Spirit and/or buyout by elements of the Trump administration factor in as well]

Between increased costs and high demand in the USA (along with that possible decrease in price-based competition) I expect several of our posters have had some sticker shock for flights, even leaving out the pains from TSA delays and reduced flights causing even more aggravation.

My wife and I don’t fly frequently, maybe once a year on average, but one of our friends is taking a much delayed vacation to come out to visit us in a few weeks. We ended up noting that despite a mid week flight and staying over a weekend before flying back (6 days total visit) that prices were up approximately 20%. But that’s just _one_ datapoint.

So please share your experiences on how air travel pricings has been working for you in the timeframe following the initiation of hostilities? Feel free to include other factors you feel important. Just trying to get an idea if 20% is representative, high, low, and ongoing trends.

I booked a trip to California just before the first attacks. I just checked and the fare for the same flight, same class, same dates is $100 higher each way.
