Very lower middle class - dad worked a civil service job. Mom didn’t work. But I remember times when my dad would pick up a night job for a while. At a few points it felt like we didn’t have money - powdered milk instead of the real thing, lots of bean soup, etc. But, our small town was fairly homogeneous in income level, so I wasn’t much exposed to people in better situations. Consequently, it never felt like we were wanting for anything.
