How much money for vacation?

To be fair, nobody actually wants to have an egg cream.

That ride-a-bike-to-power-a-blender thing is real? Some guy had one on Shark Tank a few weeks ago. It looked stupid. I’m surprised someone is operating one in New York.

Someone is operating one of everything somewhere in NYC.

It’s a fond childhood memory and they taste wonderful. Did you grow up here?

Yes, in a solar-powered Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn of all places. A sort of friend of mine was on overload so I offered to take her two kids off her hands for the day, and one of the things we did was go here. They had to pedal pedal pedal pedal pedal to make their own fruit smoothie. It’s hysterical.

You’ve just been brainwashed by the cup-full-of-vomit lobby. It’s the same people who convinced an entire continent of Australians that they actually like Vegemite.

If you’re coming on a weekend and want some good food plus a fantastic view of New York Harbor (including the Statue of Liberty) take the IKEA ferry to Brooklyn. It’s free Saturday and Sunday and you’re not obliged to make a purchase at IKEA, but the food in their cafeteria is super yummy (and cheap)!

Be sure to drop us a line and let us know how Ratso is doing. He looked a little peaked last I saw him.

And then wait for the BX-29 and then ride the 6 train.
Which takes how long?
Or you can drive there in 20-25 minutes and leave when you like.
Real tough choice there….

I’ve done both, and the drive wasn’t 20-25 minutes.

For a hotel in NYC, I highly recommend the Hotel Newton. It’s right on top of a subway stop, and depending on how far in advance you book, your room could average only about $200 a night. We booked and paid in advance and got a nice room for slightly less than that, but maybe $225 once all the taxes are figured. I think that was for a “superior queen” (room style, not escort), so maybe you could make do with a smaller room even. It’s on Broadway on the Upper West Side and a nice neighborhood to walk around in. The subway station right there made it easy to get to just about anyplace in NYC, and it’s a nice walk through Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Why the hate? It takes like an ice cream soda or a float without the ice cream in it. It’s a fizzy ice cold Yoo-Hoo. You do know it doesn’t have eggs in it, right?

I think you’re just not old enough to have sat on a stool in a pharmacy and had a real fountain drink.

Forgot to mention, the wife and I budgeted $300 a day besides hotel. I know we ended up spending less than that, and that was two people.

Thank you all for your advice!

Not sure if i should start a new topic, but my friend recommended I visit chicago. Anybody have any thoughts on this?
