Probably the same way chemists handle it - by passing the exhaust through multiple traps, each of which condenses a different chemical. Water would freeze out at 0 [sup]o[/sup]C, so a -20 [sup]o[/sup]C trap would allow CO[sub]2[/sub] to pass through while trapping the water … etc.

I’m not entirely sure the industrial process for making CO[sub]2[/sub] is much different.

CO[sub]2[/sub]Cl doesn’t exist. NaCl will not react with CO[sub]2[/sub]. You can get amines (NH[sub]3[/sub], RNH[sub]2[/sub]) to react with CO[sub]2[/sub], though.
