I learned something today. If someone is talking about problems they’re having with getting their small children to sleep through the night, and you want to give them advice, that’s fine. If you want to tell them that you understand how hard it is to spend a week listening to your child cry in their crib and not go them, rather having them learn to soothe themselves to sleep, that’s perfectly acceptable. If you want to let them know that it’s difficult to do, but that the results are completely worth it when your child sleeps through the night, that’s just peachy. However, when you’re telling them about your child’s sleeping habits, do not, under any circumstances, use the phrase “…and now she’s _so_ good in bed”. ---
