Unless you count mouthwash, the answer would be never. I see no advantage to it. I want full use of my senses without adulteration. I can get buzzed in another way through physical exercise or working out a problem. I need to be fully ready for any emergency and that could include driving or otherwise reacting to situations.
I vote 3-4 times a week, but sometimes if we have good wine or beer in the house I’ll have a drink every night. And when I’m watching calories it falls down to maybe 1-2 times per week.
I essentially quit drinking over a year ago. The only reason is I wanted to. I had some beers on NY Eve, and two other times. The last time was the night Osama was killed. I do find that I sleep better w/o alcohol in my system. I will say that I have been a moderate to heavy drinker before I stopped.
My vote was 3-4 times a week, but that’s the standard, garden-variety average week answer- i.e. neither work nor home is too hectic, and I have beer/wine or limes/lemons (to go with my rather comprehensive home bar). It’s usually Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and sometimes some other day of the week.
When things are hectic at home, I drink less- no time! When things are hectic at work, it’s more of a stress reliever, so I tend to drink more often- up to every day.
I rarely have more than one at a time, except for the occasional time when I meet buddies for beers after work, or I’m playing games with a different set of friends, and the Belgian beers come out.
There’s no 2-3 times per week, so I went with the 3-4 times per week option. Some weeks it’s never, some weeks it’s 3 times, some weeks, it’s 5 days. Around the holidays, I really get a jones for cocktails. In the summer, it’s beer. Spring, fall and the rest of winter, I don’t have much of a taste for it.
I like the taste of alcohol. Maybe once or twice a week I’ll have a single drink sometime after dinner. Manhattans are my current favorite. I rarely drink any more than a single drink, and I don’t drink to get buzzed.
Maybe once a year I’ll drink enough to start seeing double, but I’ll stop drinking at that point. I don’t really like that feeling, I prefer being alert, and I don’t like being around drunk people.
I voted “once a month,” but really it’s somewhere between that and “once a week.” Maybe every two weeks on average. I really don’t drink as much as I used to in my youth, but if my friend from upcountry comes to town for a weekend or there’s some other special get-together, I’ll make up for lost time, heh.
EDIT for a nitpick: “Every day” and “every night” are two words.
This for me, also. I’m not a teetotaller by any means, but thinking back, I had a ‘hard lemonade’ at a conference last June, before that I think was Christmas.
Wait, I mean FOOL OF A TOOK! YOU FORGOT … less often.
Somewhere between “Never” and “I take a sip of my husband’s beer a couple of times a year.” No, wait, I have a very small drink of di Saronno a couple of times a year. Wow, I’m drinking like a half ounce of alcohol every other month! I’m out of control!
