I’m not opposed to it, but I’m not a huge movie fan and doubt I would ever go alone. I like going with my wife. We hold hands, and share popcorn, and talk about it afterwards. Even though we enjoy it, I bet we only go to see one or two a year. ---

I see a lot of movies and about half the time I am alone. No big deal, no sharing my popcorn and I get to decide how much turkey fat goes on it. ---

I’ve never done this and haven’t been to a movie at a theater since 1990, but I chose option 2 since I might want to go to a movie alone some day. I don’t know. Do your shoes still stick to the floor? ---

Never but I might start. There’ve been a few movies I’ve missed out on seeing because my friends are all Mon-Fri workers and I work shifts, so we seldom get time off together to go. I’d prefer to go with someone else because we usually have a meal together before or afterwards. ---

I go to the movies by myself about 90% of the time! every time I went to movies with my Wife or friends all they do is want to talk, it’s my peacefull time going by my self, ---

I voted “occasionally” but it’s more like once a year. For perspective, I probably go to the movies with other people 3-4 times a year (what can I say, I’m cheap and would rather wait for Netflix). I tried to go see “12 Years a Slave” today by myself, but it was sold out. I will be going by myself tomorrow. E: I’m going by myself to see that because it’s going to be emotionally intense and would rather cry by myself among strangers than with people I know. Other movies I’ve seen by myself are movies no one else wanted to see or were somehow too embarrassing to ask my friends to see with me (_cough_ “Cowboys and Aliens”). ---

I go by myself almost every weekend; my friends and family don’t really share my taste. I just looked at all the movies I saw in a theater last year, and I saw 86% of them by myself. ---

Pretty much every time I go, but I don’t go often enough for any of the options in the poll. I’ve only been to like one movie this year. People are just too obnoxious to put up with the exorbitant ticket/concession prices. Seriously, fuck cellphones. ---

I seldom go to the movies, but I’m very comfortable going alone and have done so many times. It doesn’t bother me. Being with other people is usually more fun though. ---

I work weekdays and one Saturday a month until noon. My mom usually babysits those Saturdays and my daughter usually stays until that evening, so I try to catch a movie that afternoon. It’s the only time I get to see new grown-up movies and it’s never packed. So… probably 7-8 times this year. ---

Almost every time I go to the movies. I can count the number of times I’ve been to a movie with somebody else on my fingers, without including the thumbs. A Disney movie or two with my parents before I was 5. (I have a very vague memory of leaving the theatre after seeing it, but no memory of being at the movie.) My dad brought me to see Tron when I was 5. I saw Quigly Down Under, Neverending Story 2, and some random Stephen Segal movie with friends in high school. I saw The Two Towers with my girlfriend. That’s it. Every other time I’ve seen a movie in the theatre, I’ve gone alone. ---

I’ve never gotten the reluctance to go alone (how’s it a bigger deal than watching one alone at home?), and this has driven friends, family, and gfs nuts over the years. If something is out that I want to see and I’ve got some free time, I go. Which means that when everyone else has time and calls me to see if I want to go, I’m usually saying “Err, I already saw that…” Or, if it’s something I liked I just don’t say anything and watch it again, which is how I saw _The Matrix_ three times. On the positive side, I’m a very flexible movie-goer, so this is only a problem when the film is in a genre I like (sci-fi and action, the occasional indie or foreign film). If someone wants to catch a musical, romantic comedy, comedy, or the host of other types I don’t normally watch, I’m game and the odds are slim I’ve seen it. But over the years, everyone’s learned that if it’s something in my bailiwick, call me _before it comes out_ to say you want to go along. And that’s before it comes out _anywhere_ - they’ve been burned by advance midnight shows a few times. 🙂 ---

I prefer to go alone. Last time I went with someone else, it was with my sister and mother. To my embarrassment, I found out the hard way, my mother and sister are talkers! They talked all through the f’n movie, while I tried to sink lower and lower into my seat. Never again! ---

I haven’t done it in several years, but back when _Jurassic Park_ came out, I loved it so much I wanted to see it multiple times. For a while, I went to see it every weekend at the local theater (probabably…I dunno…5 or 6 times?) on my own. Didn’t bother me at all. I have no issue with it now–for whatever reason, the opportunity just hasn’t presented itself. ---

I haven’t been to the movies in years. When I did go, I almost always went alone. My husband and I have very different tastes in movies. My daughter and I occasionally want to see the same movie, and when she lived with us, sometimes we’d go together and enjoy it. Nowadays, when she comes to visit, we’ll usually hit a Redbox and see if there’s something we both want to see. There’s very few movies that I really want to see in a theater any more. I used to enjoy it, but between the fireflies and the kids who are allowed to roam the theaters, screeching, and the supposed adults who talk back to the screen or who absolutely MUST be on the phone at all times, I can’t concentrate on the movie itself. Bring back ushers! And this time, issue tasers to them! ---
