Regularly, here in LA. It doesn’t bother me. I’m always a little taken aback when someone tells me they don’t know how to parallel park, but as I’m reminded by this thread, there are lots of places where it simply isn’t necessary.
Like everybody else who parallel parks routinely in this thread, I live in a city and park on the street.
I actually passed parallel parking on my driving test, then entirely forgot how until I needed to use the skill four years later. My father had to re-teach me, although it was much more effective the second time, since his method (which involves lining up mirrors and license plates) didn’t work very well on the driving test, where I parked in between cones.
About 2-3 times a month.
Fairly often around here–whenever I go to downtown Orlando (unless I go to a parking garage) or to the downtown of my smaller hometown. I’d say I parallel park a few times a week, and I’m getting pretty good at it if I do say so myself.
Not every day, but then I don’t drive every day. Often, though.
Daily. It’s not absolutely everywhere I drive but it is often. Initially I was only so-so at it when I moved to the city but I improved quickly. My right mirror does this thingy that when you go in reverse (not when you turn on the car and start driving) but in the middle of driving for awhile the mirror will tilt downward so you can better see the curb. Makes it easy.
I actually taught someone to parallel the other day too! Confidence, calmness and spacial relations are half the battle.
Maybe about twice a year. It’s rare that you need to around here.
Maybe four times since I graduated from college in 1999. Back then I was kind of okay at it, but I’m definitely out of practice mostly because the cities around here seem to think that street parking is unslightly, and offer metered lots instead.
