> I, too, miss the days of cheap flank steak. Even round steak is expensive, and that’s really only good for making chicken-fried. Oddly enough, in my neck of the woods, I often see ribeye or NY strip on sale for just a buck or two more than the “cheap cuts.” Sometimes even less!

What gets me even more is when a _current_ episode on Food Network still touts flank steak or skirt steak as an affordable alternative. The people hosting the episode obviously have not actually shopped for flank or skirt steak in a long time, especially here in NYC (where they film). If you want to teach me how to make a cheap steak taste good, tell me what to do with top round london broil. No matter what I try (and I’ve tried lots of methods), it still tastes like I couldn’t afford flank (which, at over $10/lb more expensive, is true).
