# How profitable is hand sanitizer?

According to Cecil in list item #9 of the column “How are you supposed to use hand sanitizer?” ( [How are you supposed to use hand sanitizer? - The Straight Dope](http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/3008/how-are-you-supposed-to-use-hand-sanitizer) ), the hand sanitizer industry was in 2010 projected to bring in over 400 million dollars annually by this year (2015). This appears to be drawn from this reference in the **References** :
