Female. Just under 5’5". I was just over 5’4" when I was 15, and then when I measured again when I was about 20 I’d gained 3/4". ---

5’8", male. My dad’s 5’10 or so and I’m 21 so I may get taller. I hope. I’ve always wished I was taller, because my two best friend growing up were always the tallest kids in any class and always kicked my ass at basketball and at the “jump up and touch that ledge on the ceiling” game that we played every day at school on the way to the lunchroom. Then in high school I discovered rugby - I was initially a weak-side wing, but during tackling drills I turned out to be pretty good, so they put me at flanker, and I started routinely tackling guys who were 6’4 and taller, so that made me feel a little better about my low center of gravity. I still wish I was taller. My three closest friends are 6’6", 6’4," and 6"3, and I hate walking anywhere with them because I always feel like I look ridiculous. My band-mates, also, are all at least 4 inches taller than me, and on top of that I play a long-scale Fender bass that makes me look even smaller. When I get an upright in a few months (Upton, if anyone knows or cares about double basses,) I’ll look even smaller. Fuck! If there was one thing I could change about myself, it would be my height! It’s true! I want to be TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLl!!! ---

I’m 5’4", and have been since high school. I’m used to girlfriends being taller than me and all that happy horseshit. The only time I wish I was taller is when I am clothes shopping. Argh. ---

I’m very nearly 5’3". I got the last two inches in college, which surprised me greatly. I had saved up to buy some more costly (for a college student) “interview” suits, and then ended up growing out of them before I actually started going on interviews. ---

5ft 5 on a good day with the wind behind me. Male, 48. Probably stopped growing at 19. I blame my mum - both for the lack of height (she probably smoked 20 a day while pregnant with me at the age of 36) and baldness (all her brothers were bald as coots from an early age), the latter meaning I can’t pretend to be taller than I am by growing a huge quiff. ---

6’2" dude, now 190 lbs. (although I wouldn’t mind being ten pounds lighter). I probably stopped growing when I was 16 or so. My dad is my height, and my mom is of average height. One of my sisters is almost as tall as me, and my other sister is even shorter than my mom. Some kind of genetic law of averages was at work. My wife is 5’4", and two of our three sons are on track to be at least as tall as me. ---

Female, 5’2". There is a step stool that resides permanently in my kitchen so that I can reach the top shelves of the cabinets. In the kitchen is really the only time I mind being short. Oh, and when trying to reach the clutch on a stick-shift car. I used to have a Mustang, and I had to sit so far forward, if that first-gen airbag had ever deployed it probably would have killed me. But on airplanes, it’s a distinct advantage. I can usually sit cross-legged in an airplane seat without impinging on my neighbor’s space. ---

[/QUOTE] It would be a distinct advantage in countries like Thailand, too. I’m much too tall for this place. But I’ve become expert at cramming myself into the tightest of spaces. ---

Male. My drivers license says 6’0", but I’m closer to 5’ 11.5". It’s just so cumbersome to say that, though…six feet is much easier. ---
