For those of you who are curious, the number of people killed by knives in the US in 2016 was 1,604. So basically, a higher per-capita knife murder rate than the UK, plus eleven thousand gun homicides on top of that. Sort of an icing on a shit cake.
Ahem, wasn’t that high once upon a time. But then, you know, lead happened and turned baby boomers into liberal crackpots all of a sudden in the sixties and both murder and crime overall skyrocketed.
I don’t think the death rate is your real problem anyway. Lefties have a very well known aversion to power and guns = power. And everyone knows lefties are soft on crime so they also have an aversion to guns being used on criminals as well.

Yeah, it used to be higher. From 1900 to about 1940 the homicide rate was higher than it is now. Due no doubt to the prevalence of rap music in the early 1900s
But lynchings typically weren’t included in the total.
And of course the highest homicide rate in all of American history occurred in the 1860s, but that doesn’t count since the killings weren’t hippie-related, and the people killing each other were presumably genteel about it.

Truly, it was better in the 1850s, when the North knew the South had the veto, and thus gentility was maintained.

I’d be interested to know just what it is that you think liberals are doing that has resulted in the recent lessening of crime. My guess would be that it’s due to a multitude of factors, such as three strikes laws, no federal parole, the fact that as populations from high crime areas have moved to areas with less crime it has become more difficult for criminals to practice their craft, and of course vastly increased rates of gun ownership by private citizens. It’s far more risky to accost people in their homes and cars these days than it used to be. Yeehaw, guns!
Yeah, I knew that one would come back to bite me, but I was away and on my phone and in the middle of other things and didn’t have time for correction. Libbies are indeed all about power if it comes from government, as long as that government is suitably left-wing. And they’re generally fine with dictators, as you highlight yourself by having no problem associating the socialism so beloved by the left with dictatorships, because as well know these types of government can’t last even until they fail on their own without dictatorial governments forcing people to live as they never would acquiesce to otherwise.
Please. When the time comes that Trump has a fifty year history of repeatedly releasing hundreds of thousand of violent criminals to prey upon society over and over again, we can talk. In the meantime there isn’t even a smidgeon of comparison.
And I’ll say again for all the good it’ll do, I didn’t vote for Trump! I didn’t vote for him so strongly in fact that I even almost voted for Hillary! I came this (two fingers 1/8th inch apart) close to voting for her, but just couldn’t pull the trigger. Had I not known my state would overwhelmingly go for Trump whether I voted or not, I actually might have voted for her. I’m so thankful that in the end I didn’t have to do that.
But all is not lost, you guys! I’m trying to get with the program and join today’s society. I really am. Just tonight a young woman I know, who in today’s typical fashion acts street and says fuck pretty much every other word and I tease her about it, came up to me when she saw me today acting all hood and said “The fuck’s going on, John?” (not my real name) By way of response I replied, “Fuck if I know, bitch!” This was met with a startled and explosive giggle, dancing eyes and mirthful expression, and a laughing comment that she did not expect to be hearing that! So I figured I done good. (See? I’m using a bit of shitty grammar too. It just gets better.)
So, what do you guys think? Was my etiquette and behavior spot-on for today’s world, or did I commit a faux-pas of some kind? It’s just so hard for someone of my generation and upbringing to know how to convincingly act vulgar and trashy, and as we all know, to fit in these days vulgar and trashy is de regueur.
And while we’re on the subject I’m thinking also we should write a new patriotic song to update and replace America the Beautiful with something more contemporary and germane to our country today. It would have whole new lyrics and be called America the Shithole.

Like when you claim that gun ownership is up, when even literally 10 seconds of actual research would show that’s not actually right at all. I read your stupid post, went to google, typed “gun ownership rates over time”, clicked the first link, scanned the table, saw that you were wrong, all in literally less than 10 seconds. You lack the intellectual capacity to spend even 10 seconds to fact check the stupid shit that spews out of your slightly retarded brain, and I love you for it.
I have to expound on this a little more: if someone wanted to learn how to debate, I would tell them to respond to your posts. Literally every post you make is stupid and contains factual and logical errors. A trainee could practice various types of responding, from politely pointing out your specific and numerous factual errors like thinking that gun ownership rates have gone up, to making fun of dumb shit you’ve said (like in the post immediately prior to the gun ownership one, where I cringed so hard after reading it that my head still hasn’t fully emerged from my chest cavity). All in all, if you want to try to make hay over whether I’ve made an error in stating that there are more guns that ever before, or in not looking up gun ownership statistics before saying so, you have only those on your side to blame as the impression has come pretty much solely from them in the first place. So I will admit that I should have recognized that most of my impression came from dubious sources and that it therefore bore closer scrutiny, but this nonsense from the left has been going on for so long with little to no rebuttal that frankly there never seemed a reason to doubt it.
But in the end the result is the same. Whether people really do have more guns now or everyone just thinks they do because of liberal hysterics and dishonesty on the issue, the impression remains that guns are everywhere and it’s much more dangerous to break into someone’s home or try to hijack their car than it used to be.
