If he’s talking about Johnnie Walker Red that isn’t a high bar to clear.

Balcones makes a couple of pretty decent whiskies. They also make a couple that are complete yak piss. Stranahan’s is a component in one of my “Daily Drinkers,” namely Tin Cup. The maker ages MGP, then tops it off with 10% Stranahan’s before bottling.

I shall now seek out a bottle of Westland on your rec.

> You could blow a shitload of money on books, travel and bottles of single malt Scotch…or you could go to this website to get a basic understanding of the subject [https://www.thescotchadvocate.com/single-malt-scotch.html](https://www.thescotchadvocate.com/single-malt-scotch.html), then go to a bar that features flights of Scotch and try a variety. I think taking sips of different styles will show the variety more clearly than blindly trying different bottles at different times.

This.

Do not buy a premium bottle of alcohol to sample it. There was a time I would have considered myself a Vodka aficionado and yet I did not care for loads of popular expensive vodka brands and still don’t.
