book yourself a day at the spa getting yourself pampered, which means seaweed wraps, mud baths, mani/pedi, hair cut and color, and whatever the heck else feels good to you. afterwards go all out and treat yourself to a couple of good bottles of champaign and lots of indulgent foods you normally wouldn’t buy for yourself. use the linen napkins, the good bone china and those fancy champaign glasses you’ve been saving for a special occasion. YOU are the special occasion! 🙂 ---

I celebrated my 30th birthday alone. Having no one else around, I went out to a Good restaurant (a French restaurant – I don’t think I’d ever been to one before). When I got home I had my favorite dessert and watched my favorite movies on video. A friend stopped by, briefly, knowing I’d be alone, so it wasn’t entirely on my own, but he didn’t stay long. If you’re looking to spend it with people, and/or you want to do something meaningful, you could do what some friends suggested when I spent one Thanksgiving alone – you could do volunteer work somewhere, ideally somewhere serving food. ---

Your collective kindness brought tears to my eyes. (OK, I’m a sap, but I’m a happy sap.) I did bring a whole lot of cookies to work, and my colleagues wolfed them down. My students got candy and sang to me. Now I just got home and found your birthday wishes. Thank you so much! Dopers are the best. And now I don’t feel like I’m celebrating alone. I decided to have a martini, as I didn’t want to stop for champagne. They usually make me silly, so my next post might be from on top of the coffee table, complete with lampshade party hat. And happy birthday to Buttercup and Cheez Whia, too! ---

One year when I lived alone and my birthday came along - well, for some reason I forget, I WAS alone. (I did get an obligatory cake n’ card from the girls at the office). So after work I got all dressed up and drove several miles to see a great movie. Enjoyed that! Went out into the mall, bought myself a hideously expensive bottle of perfume. Then bought a bottle of excellent wine and when I got home, had a glass, ordered a pizza with everything I ever wanted on a pizza to be delivered, had another glass of wine with that, took a shower, dabbed on some perfume, and went to bed. Cripes, if no one was around to spoil me, I was going to spoil myself! (but I was a lifelong loner and past the age where birthdays meant all that much. The birthday was just an excuse for the spoiling!) I think I might do something similar even today if I was alone. ---

Yes, infact I have todays my birthday and in the begining of the day i was not dat happy in turning 22 but anywy i spent my birthday alone first my family wished me oh before dat at midnight some college frends wished me and asked for treat which i dint give btw and den for breakfast i ate manioc chips which is my fav food and while watching tangled my fav animation movie i ate dat and after i went by trishaw my fav mode of transport where i was reminising my past and appreciate my life and the memories upto that moment den i went to my grandmas and was wished der so i bought cookies as a treat for my college frends but dint give but i gave my grandma and some other ppl den went to class and jst walked around trying to calm down cz i ws hyper lol and den was in class wer some ppl wished me and a guy wished me and i scraped him cz i dint want ppl to knw dat it was my birthday lol he caled me cat woman lol anywy he told the whole class and den everybody sang happy birthday for me lol hm actually dat has never happend to me in my entire life sooo overall i guess i dint spend my birthday alone and actually it was a great awesome most memorable birthday ever 🙂 ---
