# How to get a social security card?

This may sound like a dumb question, and it probably IS, but like so many dumb questions, it has to be asked. 🙂

I need a social security card to apply for a state job. Problem is, I have no idea when the last time was that I even saw my social security card. I’ve worked for myself almost my entire working life, and it just never came up as an issue. How on earth do you get one? Doesn’t it take forever (remembering vague rumors)? Who would you call, or write, or email?  
All advice appreciated. 🙂
