# How to get hired without an interview

In Europe a lot of interviewing seems to be done using Skype. I’m not sure that counts or not.  
I got a summer job with the post office based solely on the written test, no interview of any kind.

They cannot hire you based on your resume, because your resume might be fiction from top to bottom. Even if they need a guy to sit in the basement and maintain the server racks, they can’t just take your assertion on your resume that you spent 5 years maintaining networks. They have to ask you questions to see if you really know anything.

I’ve been hired with just a phone interview–for situations where they were hiring a team of people, and needed 5 warm bodies by Tuesday. But they need you to demonstrate that you at least know how to pretend to be knowledgeable about your purported area of expertise.
