How to hook up a bunch of large capacity hard drives?

I’ve seen those, but Sony is on the sh*tlist for that whole rootkit fiasco.

I think your best solution for a media server would be USB2 or Firewire. I have a mixture of both types in external boxes. They work like a charm.

USB would be easier because good USB hubs are cheap and easy to find.

If you’re looking for a good centerpoint for the server you might want to check out the D-link 320 wireless media hub using the Tversity server software. I’ve got one and I’m in the process of ripping all my CD’s to hard drive. I’m up to about 20 gig of music files at this point and finding what I want to listen to is easy as pie.

If you can manage to fit all those drives into one case you’d need an extra fan or three. All those drives would add up some considerable heat.

Just remembering the wondrous quantum leap when we discovered that if you cut a notch on the left ride of a 5.25" floppy disk, you could write on the other side…

Anyhoo, go for a server with SCSI drives. Lots of 'em.
