Alright, I’ve tried to put it off, but there’s one poster that I’m just plain sick of having to scroll past their posts. I’ve heard rumors that there’s a way to ignore a poster. How do I do that? Is there a SDMB help section I should be referring to? ---

Go to User CP. Scroll down to Edit Ignore List. Type in the name and they go into the cornfield when you save it. ---

Of course you will now have to scroll past the distracting message: “This message is hidden because \ is on your ignore list.” I know this because I have put one poster on my ignore list. Ironically, only because I was sick of the visual distraction of his non-sig sig. So rather than his posts simply going away, they continued to appear, the content replaced with the even longer, equally distracting message. ---

Remember you also still get exposed to someone on your ignore list whenever they are quoted by others. So the list is only a partial solution. ---

I’m lucky that the couple I do find annoying are not horribly active around me/the subjects I follow most so its pretty easy and YMMV. But that’s just, for me, the easiest way because of the “quote reveal” aspect. ---

It’s also not possible to put a mod on your ignore list. You have to ignore us manually. The flip side of this is that we also can’t put anyone on ignore. ---
