Chrome is my default browser. Browser windows with Yahoo! search icons appear when I click on a new tab. I’ve run Avast and Microsoft Defender and turned off Chrome extensions per online help, but the problem continues. Any suggestions?

If you mean your search engine was changed, then you can do that in Chrome under settings \> search engine.

If you think there’s some malware in the browser, I’d also delete cache and cookies.

And of course, it also depends if this is a chrome mobile browser vs computer browser.

Let us know more and we can dig in deeper!

Thanks. Computer browser. I’ve changed it in Chrome settings before, but it switches back. Wondering if this is a McAfee thing (not that I want it, but I can’t get rid of it).

Check the extensions and delete any that you don’t recognize.

You can find it in "Menu → Extensions → Manage extensions

Also download Malwarebytes and AdAware (both from [Malwarebytes](https://www.malwarebytes.com/)). They can find any malware on the computer.
