# How to make someone feel better after a tonsillectomy?

Gee, you people are so nice. When CubHubby had his tonsils Ripped Out By the Roots with a Rusty Billhook (to hear him tell it) I collected all kinds of jokes to tell him. He would laugh and then groan, for some reason. 😛 .

My best advice: pain meds. Tell your doctor he is a pain weenie and you need really good meds.

I had my tonsils out in 1966 and was treated with nothing but antibiotics and ice cream. I was 6. The day I came home from the hospital, loaded with gifts, my parents brought me a gallon of a new flavor, Batman & Robin ice cream. It was made with bananas (for Batman) and raisins (for Robin). There was no Tylenol in those days.

Well my husband is home and I am keeping him stuffed full of jello, water, melty popsicles, pudding, liquid Tylenol with codeine, some other drug to reduce swelling, and yet another drug to settle his tummy!

I stocked up on broth and veggie soup so he can have some variety in this ‘diet’.

The hospital was a friggin nightmare but that is a whole different thread. 🙂

Having him away from home for the night was tough - thank goodness my MIL was here to help me with the baby and to distract me from my nervousness.
