I thought you couldn’t have casein?

Yes, I should have noted that. We pretty much only ever use it for cooking, where the taste of the milk itself isn’t a factor.
Has the technology has changed since I was a kid (40-50 years now, ouch!) ?
Because I remember the powdered milk to be vile. The shelf-stable stuff is basically canned milk in individual serving packages. I just use less on my cereal than they think an individual serving should be.
If you’re cooking with it, it’s usually okay. I wouldn’t want to drink the stuff, or pour it on cereal.
Might make the compost reek for a while; and might attract critters that you don’t want in your backyard who will come tear the heap apart. Also animal products are broken down by anaerobic bacteria and healthy compost needs aerobic bacteria; and many home compost piles don’t get hot enough to break down animal products properly and safely.
You certainly can compost dairy products; there are ways to deal with all of that; but it won’t work well for a lot of home composting systems.
If you have any enemies pour it under their car seats. In hot weather, it will reek for weeks.
Gallon of milk: $2.99
Half gallon of milk: $2.79
It’s cheaper to buy a gallon and possibly need to dump a quart of milk gone nasty than to buy half gallons. And every so often, I actually finish a gallon in time.
Agree 100%. I cannot understand why people drink milk, have they never seen where it came from?
Cheese and butter, on the other hand, are fine with me. Incoherent, I know.
Do you store the milk in the door, or all the way at the back?
