How to wash soiled towels better

SigMan, I know this wasn’t what you asked and please don’t take it the wrong way, but why isn’t somebody making sure the dog goes out often enough that he doesn’t have to hold it in till he just has to go?

I would also recommend soaking the towels in vinegar (a cup to a gallon of water, that kind of thing) before washing them. That definitely works for cat urine.

He’s too quiet about it. As I remarked earlier he doesn’t bark at the door to go out so we had to check often. Sometimes we are distracted so it happens.

He’s 14 years old so he’s having trouble controlling his bladder.

I once frequented a laundromat that did say DO NOT WASH HORSE BLANKETS IN THE SMALL MACHINES. I thought, wash horse blankets?

I just hung my horse blankets on the line and hosed them off. Very rarely. (I hosed the horses off a little more often.)

For the OP, Nature’s Miracle is great stuff. Putting in a cup of vinegar in the machine can also be effective. Cute doggie.

I would never put a pet’s crate towel directly into my washing machine.

I always soak it first in my **laundry tub in bleach & soap. I use liquid All. A thirty min soak seems about right. Sometimes longer if I’m busy.

Bleach kills any flea eggs and bad smells.

Rinse Thoroughly and then it goes into the washer.

I still find pet hair in my dryer’s lint filter. But, a lot of it got removed in the laundry tub.

**bathtub if you don’t have a laundry tub

A friend takes her husband’s work clothes to a laundromat. He works with graphite. At the end of his shift, he undresses and puts his clothes into a heavy duty plastic bag. He then showers in the “dirty showers”. Cleaner, he then moves to the “clean showers” for a second scrubbing. He then dresses in clean clothes and goes home. I saw a selfie of him after his first shower, and he looked like he was wearing mascara.

The bags of clothing reside in their shed until laundry day. Once a week, his wife takes his work clothes to the laundromat. I don’t feel bad about doing dog & horse blankets after hearing about her graphite experiences.

I had a renter that operated a riding school. The horse blankets ruined the washer. Just too heavy when wet.
