Bill and Hillary chose… wisely. They didn’t choose a criminal _congressman_. They chose a _criminal_ congressman. This guy is going to be a complete thorn in the GOP’s side for two years because of his criminal exposure alone. (Seriously, though, I bet it’s more mundane - very likely this guy was running a con on some Non-American (NA) deci-millionaire, selling the NA on the idea that if the NA funds his Congressional run, the NA will gain influence in Congress. Santos possibly didn’t expect to win, he was just… grifting. As he always grifted. And, like many, he found fertile grifting fields on the Right.) ---

I want to go on the record, with zero solid evidence at this point, that it will come out that Santos is a Russian stooge, funded and bought and wholly paid for by the Kremlin. ---

I have to think that’s part of the reason why they’re not ousting him (or keeping him off of committees). We’ve learned from Trump and Musk that if you create a big enough distraction, people don’t notice what’s going on in the background. As long as there’s a steady stream of accusations against him, he’ll keep the public focused on him instead of everyone else. Like a rodeo clown. I made the same suggestion for why so many RWNJs managed to land spots on the same committee. That committee (or those committees as the case may be) will end up with so much in fighting they’re not likely to get any thing done, and, at the same time, create a ton of sound bytes, video clips, light night fodder, SNL skits, memes etc which will keep the world distracted from what the grown ups are doing. If that’s the case, my question would be did McCarthy do that on purpose so the Rs can own the libs or did he do it so the R’s and D’s can actually, at least semi amicably, work together? ---

I predict that Netflix will eventually produce a limited series about him. Probably not while he’s still in office, but after that, it might not take them long to get it going. ---
