I sometimes wish I had a tickler file so I could keep other posters straight. FICTIONAL USERNAME: Posts in Cafe Society a lot. Likes reality shows. Doesn’t like CSI. Conservative Republican but doesn’t like Palin. Admits Iraq was a bad idea. Avoids political debates. Married and has pre-school age son. Refers to wife and child as Mrs Username and Littlename Junior. Posted about mother’s death last June. Works in a hospital. Not sure what job he does. Agreed with me about Batman being able to beat Captain America. Disagreed with me about estate tax policy. Jokes about liking ketchup on all his food. ---

I also find it awkward, being or appearing to be a fairly new recruit. I’ve been reading the boards for years and years, so a lot of people who’ve gone on ahead, or people like **Santo Rugger** , I feel like I know them and I’m sorry for their troubles; but I don’t feel like I can say so, since they don’t know me or that I’ve been kind of lurking in their life for a decade. I feel like an extra in _Cheers_… ---

We had a thread once about people who keep notes on their fellow Dopers, and I have been tempted to do the same ever since. This terrifies me, because with my civil servant’s penchant for detail I would create a new note about anything I learned about anyone; I would have huge and ever-expanding files; I would worry about trying to determine who was “important enough” to keep such data on; I would have to decide how to organize the files (probably alphabetical by name, but maybe by post count?) and how long to hang on to them… I don’t want to encourage such OCD-type behavior. ---

I’ve always felt that as soon as I leave a room I’m immediately forgotten. That’s in real life as well as here. I’ve always been bad with names too. There are a few people here I remember, **Johnny L.A.** is one, but we live in the same part of the world. ---
