No, because it took us only the last 200 years to destroy the natural balance of our ecosystem that was in effect for the past hundreds of thousands of years.
[/QUOTE]
What natural balance existed in the magical time before 200 years ago??
See, and I think that we will certainly be around 2,000 years and that our civilization then will look on this age as the start of the true flowering of humanity.
It wasn’t magical. That word is reserved for the religious and the conservatives.
200 years ago there was not the same level of human activity impact on the global climate.
We’ve known we are affecting global climate on a substantial scale since the 1960s. It’s only the US Conservatives that have been denying this scientific fact, that they have been promoting the same level of environmental abuse on a global scale, and are responsible for the promotion of deleterious effects of the human activity to the planet’s biosphere.

yawn Well, nutty religious right wing conservatives and loopy left wing crystal rubbing new ager types, ehe?
And it’s also seen an explosion in human culture, standard of living, life span, knowledge and everything else. Hydro carbons, baby. Without them none of this would have been possible. Silver linings and clouds dontha know?
You say this as if you think it’s some great wisdom that no one but you understand or knows. I figure you think I’m a ‘religious conservative’ who is a AGW denier, right?
My point, of course, was that in the dream time of 200 years ago or greater our species has a pretty bad track record of keeping the environment pristine and pure. The difference is that there are a hell of a lot more of us now then there were 200 years ago. There is a good reason for that. And folks who want humanity to crawl back into cesspool of the past set my teeth on edge. It’s like they want to ignore all of the great things our civilization and species has done and dwell on all of the problems…problems out very technology is in the process of attempting to address. And problems that the planet itself, as well as the universe has blithely unleashed on the planet countless times in the past without a care in the world. Rocks falling from the sky, supervolcanos going off, bacteria producing ‘poisonous’ gas (like that oxygen stuff) that killed off 90+% of all species, and gods know what other disasters…all without our fucking help.
It’s only political conservative scum trash that are intentionally oblivious to the deleterious effects of human activity to the environment.
The Earth doesn’t care much about humans. It has survived much more destructive effects in its life time.
The issue here is that it’s a portion of the human population that intentionally causes destruction on a massive scale and they pretend they’re not doing anything wrong. It would be a more legitimate position for them, the conservatives or Republicans, to openly admit that they are causing destruction because that’s what they like to do. The hypocrisy of denying the obvious effects of their actions is is a sad reality of human societies that allow this mental dysfunction to keep on existing.

I assume you mean only in America…unless you are unaware that there are a lot of people outside of America who either don’t know or don’t believe the more dire predictions of the sky is falling crowd. Or they simply don’t care.
Even in America, I’d say that a large percentage of the population falls into the label you just tossed out there of ‘political conservative scum trash’.
It sure has. And the Earth isn’t sentient…of course it doesn’t care. No other species we know of is sentient…NONE of them care, except us. You might want to keep that in mind.
So…you don’t drive a car? You don’t have electricity in your house? Or manufactured goods? You don’t, say, use a computer (which begs the question of how you were able to type in your reply)? Amazing. Or is it not hypocrisy if you use all those things but you beat your chest about the damage you are doing to the environment? Which part is the ‘mental dysfunction’ exactly? The whining part, or the using goods and services without whining about it?
A prophet named [post=13512665]Hubble[/post], using a gigantic telescope, discovered that a galactic dictator used to enslave humanity. He had some followers for a while.
