# How would I go about renting out a room for the Democratic National Convention?

I jested in the “Charlotte to host 2012 DNC” thread about renting out a room, but then I got to wondering, if I wanted to do this, how would I go about it?

On a serious note, friends of mine rented their place during the Democratic convention in SF/'84. Prior to the convention lots of brokers came upon the scene. Got top dollar for the rental, but also extracted top dollar from the unit owners.

I believe the Convention organizers (Democratic National Committee) maintain a list of bed & breakfast/houses/rooms to rent/etc. for Convention visitors who do not want to stay in a hotel. This is made available to Convention delegates (usually also listed online). You could get yourself listed on that, and wait for someone to contact you.

Since it’s so new, that isn’t set up yet, obviously.  
But you could leave a message [here](http://www.democrats.org/news/blog/charlotte_in_2012) about your interest.
