I think I would need to see some links on this. Montel talks about it on his show and says he has been fined a couple of times, nothing more.

Here’s one, from Fox News no less. LA councilmen oppose the raids.

Here’s the DEA page on it. Notice that while they kind of say that it does get used for medicinal purposes, they imply anyone involved is a recreational drug grower. Notice how they object to NORML supporting candidates. You can tell by implication that California law enforcement officials are okay with the state law, and so must be under the thumb of the medical marijuana lobby.
