I’m recently split up from a long-term partnership. [Here’s the train wreck thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=569449) in which I made that announcement. I’m polyamorous, the mentioning of which had a lot to do with the trajectory of the thread.

I’ve had good fortune since my announcement and am now involved with one delightful person and am dating and chatting with others. I like talking and listening and sharing, enjoying that for its own sake, and I don’t need to know where it is or is not likely to be headed. I’d like to spend some time with folks from the 'Dope, but not in large quantities in loud venues (just doesn’t work for me).

What the hey. I might as well throw my hat into the ring.
Male, 47, straight, pasty white Anglo suburban boy, just moved to a small town in central Ontario to pursue lower living costs, art, and solar housing design, after spending 25 years in the computer industry. Bilingual. Can draw, tutor, rebuild computers, pound sand (into rammed-earth walls). About to buy a car for the first time. Got pic in newspaper last week. Pic was supposed to be dynamic action shot of pounding sand, but unfortunately showed mostly butt. Better pic can be found in SDMB picture gallery.

I’ve read this thread from the beginning. Only 2 maybe 3 (being generous because of my spotty memory) identified themselves as single, available women.
Not a total sausage fest, but damn near. I’ve been single my whole life. Maybe half of that was in committed relationships (for which I should have been committed). Not sure which dark scary place this one is going into. I’m trying to stay positive. If this is all the juice y’all got dating-wise, I may have to invest in a nice single edge.

I’ve had my share of romantic disappointments (and then some), but I still don’t think things are quite _that_ bad.

I’m female, 35 years old and live in eastern Pa with a goofy dog named Jake. I have a degree in Biochemistry and have spent the last 13 years working in product support for a research reagent company.
I love to read, bake, laugh, listen to music. I am clumsy and uncoordinated, and about as far from athletic as it’s possible to be, but I love nature and gardening and generally spending time outside.
I’m quiet, and can be shy around people I don’t know well, but I promise that passes once I get to know someone.

Well, I would have posted, but **Fried Dough Ho** lives in the same area as me, but is younger, prettier, and more interesting than me. And, well, the “Ho” thing. Figured she’d soak up all the male Dopers in the area.

1. Lives in a different country and is still legally married. Never responded to my concern about the distance between us.
2. Younger, married, and only wanted to send me sexually explicit stories of what he wanted to do to me.
