Wow! Seriously overwhelmed by all the welcomes, guys! I doubt I’ll ever get this much attention on the boards again, so I guess I’ll make the most of it while it lasts…😉
First off, apologies to all y’all for not responding sooner. I was originally posting from work, and then left to go to my martial arts class. I’m now exhausted and battered and typing this from home, although the swelling does seems to be making things a tad tricky…
Um…okay, in order:
**Jonathan Chance** , I wasn’t ignoring you on purpose, honest! It just took me so long to write my last post (whilst pretending to actually work) that you’d already beaten me to it before I hit “submit”. A bit more training sharpening my ninja-like reflexes should solve that soon enough. So don’t beat up on me in that Dip game.
**Gazelle from Hell** , thanks! Your username 'ain’t too shabby either. Puts me in mind of a sinful springbok or something, that earned eternal damnation by telling all the predators which members of the herd were sick in order to save it’s own skin. “See that one over there? Yeah, him. He’s got a gimpy knee, so you want to go in _low_, 'kay?” Oh, and I was wracking my brains trying to come up with cool usernames, and some of the other contenders were **SlaveZero** (after a video game character), or **Carnivore** , after my preferred eating habits.
**World Eater** , (another seriously cool username) Brands! Pah! I laugh at your brands! I chew barbed wire for fun, so bring on the pain, baby! Just make sure and have the smelling salts at the ready in case I do something wussy like pass out.
**FairyChatMom** , Treat me nice and you can have all the chocolates you want. Do you like coconut? 'Cuz I’ve got plenty of those. How about the ones with the coffe beans on them?
**Morgainelf** Yup, been lurking for a loooong time now. Long enough to know who I don’t like, and who I’d like to know better…
**Lola** - I’m the baddest assassin there is! And jujyfruits are essential in my line of work - that fruity goodness helps focus the mind when performing precise nerve holds, plus if you have a lot of them, they can be mushed together to form an emergency flotation device. Trust me on this. Saved my life more than once.
**ShirleyUjest** - Honoured to have you post in my thread! And I already have a cool band name - “The Chocolate Covered Cofee Beans”. Feel free to use it, but if they get big, I get 10%.

**Darwin’s finch** Thanks for the welcome. I’m sure there was a site somewhere with pictures of prominent dopers. In fact I remember it distinctly because some of the lady dopers were pretty hot. Gotta find that link!
'Zat everyone? Yes? Good. It’s late and I think I’ve run out of my daily quota of wit and charm, so I’m going to haul my tired and bruised (yet muscular and very single) bod into bed. Treat you nice? Obviously you haven’t been paying that close attention as you’ve lurked. I _am_ nice, dagnabbit! That’s like my trademark - nice and kind and gentle and all that crap. Ask anybody!
And, no, I’m not a fan of coconut or coffee-related stuff (except maybe Kahlua) Best bets are caramels, nuts, and cherries, and I’m especially fond of Lindt truffles [sub]mmmmmmmmmmmm amaretto truffles[/sub] but I’ve also been known to enjoy the products from Hershey, PA. Are you taking notes? This is important - it’s been known to show up on pop quizzes. 😃

Sure, my birthday is the 21st of November, and I like German Sports Cars and Japanese Stereos, so start saving.
I’ve got a bunch of other biography-type details, and I’'ll put them here until I update my profile:
Age: 27
Sex: Male
Marital Status: Single (was engaged, but broke up six months ago)
Interests: Reading (well, duh!), Movies, Video games, Eating out, Martial Arts, guns, religion and current affairs.
Favorite movies: Bladerunner, Unforgiven, Seven Samurai. LOTR Is also right up there. Big fan of Kurasawa (his early stuff), Ridley Scott, and Hitchcock.
Favorite Authors (sci-fi): William Gibson, Ian Banks, China Mieville, Neil Gaiman, Alfred Bester, Heinlein, and too many more to mention here
Favorite Authors (Fantasy): Robin Hobb, David Gemmel,Tolkien, Terry Pratchett.
I also really enjoy reading about History. I’m currently reading about the Third Crusade with Richard the Lionheart and Saladin, but I also enjoy anything about Islamic Historyand Renaissance Italy, especially Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Macchiavelli
Sports: Used to play football at high school and college, but nothing since then. Still shoot a few hoops with my friends on weekends now and then, but I’ve currently re-joined a Jujitsu class after a year-long hiatus. i don’t really watch sports, life is just too short.

Yes, that was a Weeble and Bob reference (there was an embedded Star Trek reference in there, too, but you’d have to be a hard-core nerd to get it). As for my username, the asterisk stands for whatever you want it to - I have no preference on the matter. You could replace it with any old thing you want(“A”, “R”, the complete works of Robert Frost, your VCR owner’s manual, the list goes on), and it would be just ducky with me.
Punctuation is fun!
And since you encouraged us to ask you questions (Ooh, ooh, an “Ask The…” thread!!), I’ve go one:

**Bibliovore** , I’ve made a note of your birthday ) 😃 ), and I’d have to say that the cost of shipping a German sports car or a Japanese stereo (besides the actual cost of the thing itself) would be a bit… prohibitive. But are you going to be content with a wish in November? (Nov. 21… easy to remember, as it’s my friend Cindy’s fake birthday… don’t ask, long story)
I like reading, as well… but not science fiction stuff. Though you never know, I might just get into it.
