# How's the US dollar coin coming along?

Well, they _will_…but you usually get slapped and bounced before you get them wedged in properly.

I only ever get dollar coins from the stamp machine. When I do get one, I spend it as soon as possable.

I don’t like coins. I’m a man. I don’t carry a purse, and unless I’m on my way to the laundromat, I’m not going to stuff my pockets full of coins before I leave the house. Basically, coins are a pain in the butt, and the less I have to deal with them, the better.

In 2007 I went on a road trip, Upstate NY to Southern WI. For all tolls, I used dollar coins. Eisenhowers went OK. Sackys and Susans were met with a little “meh” but no problems. Tried using some Thomas Jefferson’s at a truck stop and the counterperson would not take them! A trucker traded bills for them. Sad to think someone didn’t know all about US money.

A two-piece coin is what we need (as well as a good 5 cent cigar)
