How's your booze supply?

PM me with your address as long as you like the strong IPAs. I just happen to have a few  bottles I could send your way. (citrus and fruity)

DH bought a supply of beer. I’m not even sure of what all exactly. I know the were a couple of six packs of Dos Eqius Ambar, and some porter. Also some hard cider, and a few things that has a pretty high alcohol content. Then there were Blue Moons, because they are kosher, and I make him drink kosher beer if he wants to drink it with dinner. I have no idea how much he bought, though, except it looks like more than he’s ever bought at once since our wedding. But he’s going through it pretty slowly. He really rarely drinks more than one a day, but when he wants one, he wants one. And I think he was thinking he might want more than usual during the enforced time at home.

He also bought some Chivas. He usually gets one a year, which I give it to him for his birthday-- the big one, and it take him a year to work through it, but he thought it might go faster this time.

Still, I’ve purchased 24 cans of Heady Topper over the last three days (there’s a 2 4pk a day limit) just to be safe.

I come here so that I feel better about my drinking. Lots of alcoholics in my family, but I’ve never really had that problem, but it worries me always.

I bought 2 fifths of Crown (don’t judge) on the 11th. I’m still on the first one, and there’s about a 1/3 left. At 17 shots/bottle, I’ve probably had less than 15 drinks in 18 days. That’s more than usual, but I think okay.

I went to a state liquor outlet an hour ago and everything looked completely normal–no empty shelves, no noticeable shortages of specific brands or types of liquor in evidence, etc. Granted, it’s not like I did a meticulous audit of the shelves or anything, though. For all I know there are people bemoaning the lack of their favorite spirit and wondering when it’ll be available.

In New York, they announced a week ago Friday that all non-essential businesses had to shut down on Sunday at 8:00 p.m.

I thought, damn, I had better get to the liquor store, just because we were a low on vodka and wanted to make sure we had enough wine.

When I got to the checkout, the clerk told me that Governor Cuomo considered liquor stores were essential, so my emergency run was unnecessary. Stocked up anyway.

Do grocery stores in New York not sell wine?

A friend who is laid off from bartending texted me Saturday, explaining that he had a source for alcohol (PA liquor stores are closed) and he was taking orders, tacking on a fee so he could make some money. I thought he was selling his own stockpile.

So, I told him I’d love to have a couple gallons of Tito’s vodka. He told me it would be retail plus $10, and we’d work out a day/time when he would leave it on his porch and I could leave the cash.

Turns out his scheme involved a drive to West Virginia. Driving home, his car loaded down with liquor, he has an accident involving an uninsured driver. He got a tow and they got his car able to be driven. His out of pocket expenses on his trip slightly exceeded his eventual profit. :frowning:

Google says they do not and that comports with the only time I looked for wine in a NYS grocery store - actually it was a Wal*Mart grocery section. I actually bought a bottle of “wine” without reading the label closely only to open it and discover that it was some sort of cooler monstrosity that was watered down with sugar water until it was at 5%.

Man that sucks - hope your friend is ok. Hope he can still drive and make future trips to WV.

Looking forward to the post-lock-down party! Will you invite us? Do I need to board a plane to come around?

What a bummer of a thing to happen to someone doing such good work!

PA must be one of the very few states that have closed liquor stores. I looked up the bio of the governor there, Tom Wolf, expecting to find a moron but he seems like a reasonable guy. Must be getting really bad advice, or he’s one of those teetotaler nuts. There is already pressure to re-open the stores.

Egad, they have some strange liquor laws around the country, don’t they. Of course we have a state monoply on spirits in Oregon, but wine and beer are sold everywhere. And in California you can get every kind of alcohol at the grocery store, or for that matter CVS or Walgreens. Not that the drugstore is where you’d normally go if you were looking for anything other than mass market mainstream brands.

I have no expertise here but I think I can offer the opinion that you’re fine. Absent any other factor one shot a day doesn’t make you an alcoholic.

I have about seven bottles of whiskey each 750ml. They are being consumed at a rate of 375ml per day between an average of two persons. At this rate the projected date to run out of supplies is 14 days. A call has been made to all parties involved that a trip to the emergency stock pile location will be necessary in the next following week to ensure that supplies do not run out. All parties agree that it is essential to prevent the disaster that would occur if all parties were to become sober during quarantine.

They just switched to Shipt instead of using their own employees. This now requires a tip, unfortunately, but worse, they don’t do alcohol, at least not at my three pickup locations (Novi, Canton, Westland), and won’t deliver.

Kroger gave me 3.5 liters of Bombay Sapphire, but were out of diet tonic water. :smack:

Well, back when liquor stores delivered you were expected to tip the guy they sent out, so it’s basically the same.

Bevmo has call-in/pick up service going locally, so Thursday is going to be a run for some groceries and some essentials. 2 handles of Turkey, a handle of Gosling’s and we’re good.

Has anyone stocked up on Corona out of spite or irony? I’ve never had it (don’t drink a lot of beer anyway) and I’m told it’s an acquired taste. May buy a 6 pack just to see if I get any looks at the grocery store.

I’m out, been out for a few days. Friday is grocery day. Does booze count?
