HTML question -- editing many pages.

I realize the catalog uses javascript for navigation, but that’s sort of out of my hands.

We have catalog maker software that lets you put in all of the descriptions, photos, prices, snippets of “paypal code”, etc. It’s nice and easy, and my wife can do it. Then, you click “generate html” and it creates everything you need in a local directory. You copy everything to your directory on the server, and you’re in business.

I really don’t want to create all that on my own, so I’m not getting away from javascript.

The rest of the navigation is just html links.

The frames were the idea of the original site designer, who was a friend who did it all for pretty cheap. I’m not a frames fan, but I don’t really want to try to change it.

Do you have the ability within your HTML-creating system (for the catalog pages) to edit the HTML template? If you do, you should be able to add the AdWords and Analytics code to the template, re-generate your pages and upload them over the existing pages.

If you can’t edit the template, and you go on the server and edit every page individually to add the AdWords and Analytics code, you will lose those edits next time you create new HTML and upload.

What program are you using to create the catalog pages?

AH yes, I do have the ability to do that, because that’s how I add the paypal code to each of the pages. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.

I’ve also been planning on adding google checkout to the catalog, so perhaps I can do it all at once.

The program is called Catalog VX. It’s quite simple and has features for creating print, and CD catalogs (which was our initial intent). It’s not flashy, but it’s put together real thoughtfully. A nice piece of software.
