# Huge TdF doping scandal!

Well, this was quite the news to wake up to this morning:
[56 riders barred from Tour](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/more/specials/tour_de_france/2006/06/30/bc.cyc.tourdefrance.dop.ap/index.html).
Quick summary: A doctor in Spain was being investigated for providing performance enhancing drugs. The investigation turned up ties to 56 cyclists. The teams participating in the tour had previously agreed that any riders connected to the doctor would be barred from the Tour.
So who got caught?
The list of banned riders is a veritable Who’s Who of current cycling, including the two favorites, Jan Ullrich and Ivan Basso!
How does the Tour recover from this?
