Women had been encouraged to work outside the home during WWII, in order to help with the war effort. A lot of men had left the civilian workforce to join the military. However, when Johnny came marching home again, he found that his old job wasn’t waiting for him. Jane was working on the production line, and she LIKED having a paycheck of her own. She was probably paid considerably less than Johnny had been…but that was still considerably more than she’d be paid as a teacher or maid. Many women were quite reluctant to go back to being a wife and mother (especially without being paid for it). So the culture at the time emphasized that a woman’s proper place was in the home. A lot of women didn’t buy that. Many men felt very threatened by a woman who was bringing in a paycheck of her own.
Not if they’re cartoony, no, but I think chocolate breasts could be classy, depending on how they’re sculpted.
