Chavez has sometimes been referred to in this Forum as “Castro-Lite.” What of that? Uribe is Pinochet-Lite, and Castro-Lite is still far, far better than Pinochet-Lite, as Castro himself, for all his many and very horrible faults, is still far, far better than Pinochet. I should hope that’s not debatable even by your standards, smiling.
Latin-American politics. Ya gotta make allowances.

Uh, no, I don’t. Pinochet’s torture camps and campaign of terror was awful, but it’s not even cloe to the grotesque horrors inflicted by Castro for a lot longer period. The too, Pinochet as with many quasi-fascist dictatorships steadily civilized and pacified themselves. It’s not always about current state, it’s about direction.
Frankly, I know you’ll pretend Castro has never done anything similarly, and will pretend he’s just a victim of bad press. I really don’t care. Castro is every bit the tyrant that Piochet ever was, only Castro had crazed leftists from around the world telling everyone how saintly he was. And Castro doesn’t have the upside of having eventually mellowed.
Ever ask lalenin about Castro?
