Hulu has announced its pricing plan. You payin'?

This used to be true for me, but then a few months ago I started having significant problems with stuttering and especially browser crashing. Maybe it was a bug that has since been fixed, but I wouldn’t know, because I quit using Hulu at that time and have no plans to start again.

The only problem with this is that when you factor in the pub beer prices, vs. the home beer prices, (and additional beers, due to the pub atmosphere) you get a much higher monthly bill, and a much larger waistline.

I’m with the others that say no way. Paying for a choppy buggy service is not in my near future. If they want to increase the income stream, figure out a way to sell more commercial time, with a bit of variety in which commercials are shown. Also, if I’m using Google Chrome, to watch a movie, I probably don’t need to see a Google Chrome commercial. That’s easy enough to check prior to showing the ad.

I’ll continue to use Hulu to watch current seasons of TV shows because I’ve never had any trouble with choppiness or browser crashes. The ads are reasonable for the service they provide, and hey, I’m willing to watch ads if I’m not paying out-of-pocket. But for old seasons of old shows, Netflix is ad-free, has more selection, and gives the DVD-by-mail service too, and all for the same price.

I like Hulu, but their paid service makes no sense to me.

It’s ultimately all about content. They just don’t have the content to make it compelling.

Not one cent.

I already didn’t watch anything at Hulu because of poor performance every time I’ve tried.

That plus being able to find most anything they have elsewhere for download instead of streaming, so I can watch it on my TV using XBMC on my X-box makes them useless for me even before they started charging.

If Hulu gets some good shows, I might end up paying. I think they lost a lot of good content due to the producers pulling out, which means that there isn’t anything there worth paying $10 for.

Figuring that to buy your average show on iTunes costs maybe $20, which show will span a few months, and I’d only watch something on Hulu if I didn’t like it enough to own it, they’d really need to have 4+ series all at the same time that I wanted to watch to make the $10 per month worth it.
