A gentleman in Boulder County, CO was treated this week, after he tried an unusual method of hunting a bear: [Bicycle collision](http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/jun/26/bicyclist-going-45-mph-hits-bear-boulder-county/). It was not successful.

More seriously - the man in question was going a good pace (He claims 45 mph, but given the fact that both he and the bear walked away, and the bike was ridable, after the collision, I don’t buy it.) when a bear walked into the roadway. This quote from the story is priceless:

> [@linked article](#):

> “This bear looked at me with a look of terror on his face and sort of made a noise,” said Egan. “I looked at him with a look of terror and we went, ‘aaaahhhhh.’”

I’m glad that neither Tim Egan, nor the bear seems to have been badly hurt, but the physical comedy aspect is inescapable. So I thought my fellow Dopers would enjoy the story.

I liked that they were both scared. Also, the bear was scared off by…a deer. Bears scare easily. Wasn’t there a bear who ran up a tree because he was scared by a few kittens?

Same thing happend two years ago at the Boulder half triathlon. The woman was able to finish the race. They even made up a new award in her honor - The ‘Bearly’ made it award.

How do you have half a triathlon? You stop swimming midway?

Well, props to that guy for trying. That method of hunting is simply unbearable.
