It’s pounded Haiti and is on its way to Cuba and the Bahamas now. [This one is a beast.](http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphics/AT14/refresh/AL1416W5_NL+gif/114739W5_NL_sm.gif) I’m in Orlando(ish). It looks like as of now the storm will hit quite close to our east coast. Of course, these things can turn. We have a meeting planned this afternoon and are accelerating our work accordingly. Been on the Outer Banks of NC for ten days. This is our second week and have house til Sunday. But, we’ll be heading out Friday. The winds and rain can make it terrible here, even without a direct hit. ---

I’m inland southeast Georgia, but after looking at that westward wobble in the forecast this morning, I headed for Wally World for basic supplies. I didn’t want to wait for the big crowds that will empty the store shelves over the next couple of days. If there’s a major evacuation and you need lodging, come on. Im about an hour west of Savannah. We’re going to get our feet wet, but nothing like the coastal areas to our east. And I can’t offer anything fancy, but we can make room for people and pets, and I can always stretch a stew into a soup for supper. I suspect that Friday night’s high school homecoming game and my brother’s Saturday evening outdoor wedding just might suffer delays… ---

We just bought an older house on a heavily wooded lot near Gainesville. It came through the last storm okay, hopefully it will again. ---

Upstate SC is sunny and dry. We’ve got family and friends scattered along the coastline in GA and SC, and they all know they’re welcome if needed, but I hope it settles down and we end up with a good rain and not much else. Don’t think it’s likely, but it’s my hope. ---

It’s too far out to know how Maryland might fare. We could get whomped big time or get nothing, or anything in between. Right now, the forecast is for rain most of Saturday and into Sunday. We’re far enough inland and high enough above sea level, that flooding or coastal surge won’t be an issue, and we’ve got a generator and gas so if we lose power, we can at least make sure the well and the fridge will run. My daughter lives in Orlando. She’s been thru many hurricanes, so I’m not too worried… much. ---

Lower Keys here. We are watching this one closely. Problem is there is only only one road in and out of the Keys so if a decision is made to evacuate it better come sooner than later. As of now we are expecting rain for the next two days and winds above normal and not much else. ---

Southern Massachusetts/Narragansett bay here. Three possible storm tracks within 50 miles, all now west of our location, the worst side. This spot was dry in 1938, so it is the wind/rain that might make it interesting. ---

The office has started contingency plans for later this week, and an event or two has been cancelled/postponed. We also are kinda-sorta tight with the local weatherman and he’s nervous enough about it to be stressed. I’m expecting a rainstorm with a pretty strong gust of wind or 3. Not much else atall because it’ll go too far east to really affect me and Shamu. We might leave work early on Thursday…that’s what I’m hoping for. (also, where are you in “near-Orlando” ivylass?) ---

I live in south Lake County, but work in Orlando near Kirkman and I Drive. We’re sitting tight until tomorrow morning, when we’ll have a better idea of the storm’s path. We have plans in place and hotel rooms booked. I’m considered “essential personnel” so I may bring a change of clothes to work Thu in case I have to stay nearby. ---

I am a in coastal city in Northern Massachusetts and we could get some much needed rain Sunday . If it not too bad out I might walk with my dog on the boardwalk and watch the ocean . ---

My friend in Charleston has been through quite a few of these things, and she says her gut is telling her this won’t be as bad as predicted. She, her DH and their dogs and cats will still be evacuating. She said at 3pm tomorrow all the interstate lanes heading into Charleston will be reversed so everything is heading out. I hope she’s right. ---

After a few days of nervous observation the eye of Matthew tracked well east of the Cayman Islands. We are just far enough away that our typical ENE winds are now a faint 1 knot breeze from the North. The storm is just sucking in all the air even from this far away. The surf was definitely up on the south and east coasts yesterday. Nothing huge, but it is really noticeable when we have a solid pounding surf and next to no wind. I’ve got a nephew in Orlando and family in Upstate SC. Think they will get rained on but little more. ---

Looks like the latest trajectory has it heading a bit more west. Florida’s going to get soaked. When Charley came through, some of my co-workers lost power for a week. That’s in CENTRAL Florida, not the coast. ---
