Hybrids in HOV lanes, was this thought out?

Allowing Motorcycles in the HOV lane is a federal law. Virginia was one of the last hold outs to allow motorcycles in the HOV lanes. The HOV on I-270 in DC doesn’t much work any more, you never see anyone get pulled over for it so it’s just as jammed as the rest of the road.

In California, you have to apply for a special permit to drive your hybrid vehicle in the HOV lane. You also must attach highly visible decals on the rear bumper as well as on the left and right sides near the rear of the vehicle.

Same in Florida, but it’s only one highly visible and extremely ugly decal for the rear bumper.
