After reading manny’s advice in GQ, I thought I’d better try it.

1. Doing it the UBB way:
[Try Google](http://www.google.com/)

2. Putting quotes around the URL:
[Try Google](http://www.google.com/)

3. Putting quotes around the Hyperlink:
[“Try Google”](http://www.google.com/)

4. Putting quotes around _everything_:
[“Try Google”](http://www.google.com/)

5. Putting quotes around _part_ of the Hyperlink
(as well as the URL):
[Try “Google”](http://www.google.com/)

[The preview looks good, with numbers 1 and 3 failing, the rest working. This indicates that the only requirement is a double-quote before _http:_ and a double-quote at the end of the URL before the right brace (]). ]

One thing I’ve noticed is that when you mouseover a link, the target address stays in your status bar when you move off the link. At least it does on the thread page itself, but doesn’t on this reply page. Might have been this way with the other board and I just didn’t notice.

Now I’m going to try a list.

[ul]
[li]one silly thing[/li][li]two silly things[/li][li]three silly things[/li][/ul]

and now, for some underlining:

is this thing underlined?
