If you noticed that a cavity is forming (pre-caries) on your tooth, with proper care, is it possible that the penetrated layer of enamel could renew itself?

I cannot find information on how long this would take, but it seems that it would be a long time because if I remember correctly, the synthesis of the calcified material is not quick.

I was told by my dentist that using toothpaste with a higher amount of flouride could eventually repair those, but I haven’t any experience with it myself.
