# Hypothetical What If--King Kong was real

Nope – as in many other scenbes, theyt copyu the 1933 original here, going right from DEnham’s “I’ll share it with all of you. In six months yopu’ll see his name up in lights on Broadway – KONG! THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD!”

And you do, in the very next shot. Dramatic. And avoids the problems of transporting giant apes over ocean lines.

In _King Kong vs. Godzilla_ he was towed on a big raft made of tree trunks. That didn’t end well.

I’d forgotten that. Maybe this is where the Gold Key comic got the idea. IIRC, Delos W. Lovelace didn’t tell us in his novelization how they got Kong from Skull Island to New York, either.

Kong in _King Kong vs. Godzilla_ was considerably larger than the 12 foot or 24 foot height he had in the 1933 movie. He’d have to, in order to make an appropriate playmate for Godzilla (even though the Big G was a lot smaller in those days, too)
