That would make a largely scary amount of sense, if true! How credible do you think that is?

Agreed. He was a lot better overall in Episode III but especially toward the end. And yeah… in Ep II he was just acting the way Lucas wanted him to act… like you said… as an annoying, whiny, entitled teenager. And, given the events of Episode I, it kind of makes sense that he would think he was hot shit and should get everything his way, after what he did and all.

He only works for Jabba to pay the bills. Not a lot of money in revenge.

By far, the better interpretation of Boba Fett comes from various Robot Chicken episodes in which he is cocky and arrogant (kind of a dick, really) but far more entertaining.
