# I already bought the godddam thing.  why are you still giving me pop-up ads?

Aldi are doing pretty well for themselves selling skiing equipment in Queensland in May.

A tropical state. Where it doesn’t snow, and there’s nowhere to go skiing.

People still buy it.

My favourite one I’ve had was the train company; I bought a ticket to Gatwick airport, and for the next month, I was getting offers for other train trips _on the same day_.

Ooh, instead of catching my flight to Indonesia, I’ll go to Scunthorpe for the weekend! 😃

I bought Uncharted 4 (a playstation game) on Amazon and I keep getting emails suggesting that I might be interested in buying another copy of the same fucking game! No. That’s not how it works fools.

It’s stupidity like this that makes ad-blockers so popular, which in turn makes ads more irritating, and in turn makes businesses fail as advertising doesn’t get seen because it’s become so damned annoying.

I am sure 80% of people are okay with quiet unobtrusive logically-targeted advertising of products they’d actually want to purchase. Desperation is making them panic.

I recently bought a solid wood cat tree to replace the cheapass thing with plastic & cardboard supports. Now I’m getting ads on my work computer for cat trees, including the same one I bought.
