Well, let’s be clear about something. When a man is in the hospital over this, especially now that we know it is relatively serious, joking about it certainly isn’t polite. If it is misplaced for folks here to do it, is is far worse when the White House does it. I would hope a better sense of decorum would prevail there. ---

I agree with **Mr. Moto]** here; joking about this and otherwise finding humor in it is in extraordinarily poor taste, whether it comes from the Whitehouse or some other source. I detest Mr. Cheney, and believe that he via his minions has done some grievous harm to the country, but a hunting accident is no laughing matter. :mad: ---

If you look at my post closely, you’ll notice that I wasn’t comparing the incidents so much as a political reaction to them. Given the content in this thread, and the fact that the nobody ever bothered Adlai Stevenson about the Ruth Merwin accident (indeed, the only bother he got as an adult was from his own conscience), I think it is an interesting observation to make.
